Public Schools Types

Public Schools Types

Find Public Schools in Your Area...

There are two types of public schools that we can see not only in the United States but also in many parts of the world. They operate differently from each other since the first one is a public school from national scope and the other one is local. See them below.

National public schools

The national public school is an institution operated by the US national government. It is under the office of the Ministry of Education. These schools are dominant and very visible even in remotest villages in the US region. There are even places in far-flung villages that are not reached by private schools but the presence of public schools is strongly felt especially in kindergarten, elementary and high school levels. The US ministry of education is given good annual funding so it is always able to establish schools anywhere in the US territory like elementary schools and public high schools as well as to update school facilities and teacher requirements. The school ratio in the US between students and teachers now is quite ideal in order to fully support the children enrolled. Public schools that are owned and operated by the national government are usually traditional schools. Survey showed that at least 70-80 percent are students belonging to public schools. This means public schools have the biggest population of students.

Locally-funded public schools

There are now many community high schools and colleges that are also operated by the local governments. This means the local city or provincial government have set aside funding to run the system. In many countries of the world, a local community high school or college is exclusive to students from a particular town that the school established.
