Technical School

Find Technical Schools in Your Area...

A technical school, which is almost similar to a vocational school, can both be a public or a private school. Mostly these schools offer programs for two years or even less. A technical school prepares its students for specific careers by teaching them the science behind the occupation, while a vocational school focuses on hands-on experience practicing of the necessary skills needed for doing the job. Another name which is also often used for a technical or vocational school is ‘career school’.

To meet the individual needs, the technical school and the vocational school offers classes which are more flexible. The schools also have new methods of instruction, because of the fast growing job market. The technical- and vocational schools are usually a post-secondary school. But nowadays it can also be taught in the final years of a high school. A vocational- or technical school is not a school where a student will be trained in further education in the sense of liberal arts, but they will be trained in the primarily and only job-specific skills.
