A public school is a learning institution which is owned and management by the government. A public school is either elementary school, high school or a college. The government pays for the salaries of the principals, teachers, deans, president of the college and all employees of the school. This means even when the school is not generating revenue like elementary and high school the government has to subsidize the operation in order to fully support their educational programs.

Public schools are established to cater the education needs of the majority of people. Progressive governments are banking in education as one of the factors that makes a nation developed economically. This is also the main reason why countries which have no massive program for education remain to be as third world countries.

In many countries in the US there are many government-funded elementary public schools and colleges that are being subsidized by the national government. There are also state colleges that are asking students to pay for tuition at a very lower rate as compared to many private schools. This is done so that the government can also minimize costs with some colleges generating a little income, although the revenue is not even enough to get back the funds for the annual budget of public high schools or public colleges.

The US government has been very serious in its campaign for education so that even the remotest places in the US are reached by their education program. This year the US government launched a program dubbed as “No Americans left behind.” The purpose of the program is to let education reach out even the remotest places in America. This means education should be given to all Americans as well as naturalized American citizens.
