Dental Schools Life

Find Dental Schools in Your Area...

Life in a dental school depends on what school type you are enrolled in. Most of the dental students are enrolled in traditional schools, others in alternative schools such as onsite or boarding type school while there are also those who prefer online education. So, let’s define each type so that we may be able to know how really life goes on in each of the school types.

Traditional dental schools

In traditional dental schools students usually attend day and afternoon classes so that they can carry the allowable student’s load subjects enrolled in a particular semester. The number of subjects enrolled, however, is different from country to country. Other countries allow students to enrol the maximum number of units in a semester to up to 28 units, while other countries range from 24-30 units. This means when a student carries a full load in that particular semester he is considered a regular student and he can finish the whole first year requirement allowing him to enrol in the second year. In traditional dental hygiene schools the students strictly wear their daily uniforms, or else they are not allowed to enter the school.

Onsite/ Boarding dental school type

Life in a boarding school type is also different from traditional schools since there are different set of rules laid down by US dental schools. These are called standards in boarding schools. Students are on a board and lodging status and they usually live in school dorms or student villages. This usual set up is followed by international students. In this school type, enrolled students are to choose whether they want weekly, monthly or full boarding. International students are from foreign countries and they prefer full boarding. Those who choose weekly or monthly are students that are living within the country since they can easily go home when needed.

Online dental hygienist school

You can find many online dental hygienist schools anywhere in the US territory since the American government always sees that the health care education and services needed by the people are always part of their growing up everyday lives. Most Americans are very particular with health and hygiene. The online education is already adopted by many colleges and universities in the US and they are as effective as other school types. Life here is different since students are only in their respective houses doing their stuff. Classes are done online and specialized software has also been prepared for additional study while they offline.
