Boarding schools started as a small group of schools with alternative educational systems. As soon as the system was proven to be effective and many parents start enrolling their kids, many other boarding schools opened. Even some traditional schools also accepted the idea and adopted the system. So, they have normal day and afternoon classes but also have boarding classes.
There are now thousands of boarding schools in the US and in other progressive countries of the world but they are being categorized according to their types.
Co-ed boarding schools – This type of boarding school is for mix gender students in one classroom – meaning there are boy and girl students in one classroom just like traditional schools.
Boarding schools for boys – This type of boarding school is exclusive for boy students and the schools are run by private corporations, religious orders, foundations and other non-government organizations (NGOs).
Boarding school for girls – This boarding type is exclusive for girls. Since they are all girls in a boarding school community they are identified as most disciplined student borders than boys. They clean bath and tubs, dorm surroundings, kitchen and other parts of the boarding school facilities.
Boarding school for troubled teens – Parents that are having problems with their very naughty kids, can send them to boarding schools for troubled teens. In this system of boarding proper discipline is being emphasized by the school aside from academic and extra-curricular matters. Other boarding schools of this kind even impose military discipline to change bad behavioural patterns of many naughty kids.
Boarding schools for AD/ADHD – This is a specialized boarding school for kids that are having problems with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and related problems. Students of this kind are considered special child and they are treated different by trained professors and experts.
Others – Other boarding schools types also include flight boarding school, dance and music boarding school, therapeutic boarding school, religious boarding school, etc.
