Boarding Schools Life
Find Boarding Schools in Your Area...
Life in boarding schools depends on what type of a boarding school you are enrolled, although in most cases they’re just similar with any other boarding schools you can find in the US and in other parts of the world. Of course if one is enrolled in a boarding school for troubled teens, you can compare the life there to the life in a co-ed boarding school. Below is the kind of student life experienced in boarding schools and its main characteristics, according to the type of school the students are enrolled in.
At a co-ed boarding school there are two separate dormitories for both boys and girls although they are joined together during classes. This is done due the point that an all-girl dorm would mean the girl students can easily understand each other’s feelings and emotions, their needs and wants meet and they would not be bothered by boys roaming around their rooms. This is also true with the boys. The idea is also meant to evade problems of unwanted pregnancy because a boy and a girl had mutual understanding and ended up doing unwanted things inside boarding schools. However, boarding schools usually have stricter rules and students are not allowed to go out from the boarding school compound without permission. The schools are well-fenced and there are security guards that roam around as well as those that take charge of the gate.
In girls boarding schools the school use the same approaches patterned for boys boarding schools. The school has to realize that both boys and girls have different needs and wants and they are treating the students according to gender. Stricter rules are usually imposed on boys boarding. It is common notion that girls are more behaved students than boys. Within all the boarding schools, there are of course the professors and house masters who also live with the students to teach and keep watch of their safe stay. Boarding schools have facilities aside from the boarding villages such as a gym, a library and a playing field where they can involve in sports during their weekends. Upon their enrolment they would be asked to choose the kind of boarding program whether weekly, monthly or full boarding. International students are usually those that prefer full boarding program considering they come from other countries of the world. As to the dorm structure, the usual student room has three beds, three study tables and a common toilet and bath. They have also their lounge where they can watch TV during leisure hours and kitchen where they can cook and refrigerate left over food.
In a boarding school such as therapeutic boarding life is different as well as the kind of approaches the administration needs to do so that it can be able to make a worthwhile environment.
