Recently, classes from all sectors have been suspended due to typhoon “Basyang”. The Department of Education suspended classes ahead of time. The announcement was directed specifically to all public and private schools in Metro Manila and Region 4a areas where typhoon storms Signals No.1 and No. 2 have been declared.

Classes in all public and private schools have been suspended as of 11:00 pm, July 13, 2010 (Tuesday). Elementary and high schools in Manila area have been suspended as announced by DepEd National Capital Region regional Director Flordeliza Magday. At 11:30 Wednesday, classes were also suspended for both public and private, elementary and high school in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Calabarzon as ordered by the DepEd Calabarzon Regional Director. Meanwhile, Provinces in the Central Luzon had their class suspension in advance as instructed by Regional Director Teofila Villanueva.

The Department of Education added that in Signal No. 1 areas which the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical & Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) have declared, all public and private pre-schools should be automatically suspended. If Signal No. 2 is declared, all public and private classes should be suspended from pre-school, elementary and high schools.

But the suspension of classes in private schools in all levels will depend on the school administrators according to the Education Secretary. And the college level suspensions are also within discretion of the school administrators according to the Higher Education Commission (CHED).

University belts in Manila area such as; Centro Escolar University, San Beda College, College of Holy Spirit, University of Santo Tomas, St. Scholastica’s College, Far Eastern University, University of the East, and Polytechnic University of the Philippines had earlier school suspensions. Classes in colleges and universities were also suspended specifically in areas hit by Signal No.3 including Aurora, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Northern Quezon, and Polillo Islands.

The Copper Canyon Academy which a therapeutic boarding educational learning institutes for the girls that been located in Rimrock, Ariz will be competing to the Shakespeare Competition this coming Oct. 9 to 10 on the Cedar City with their six students representatives. This competition will now be held on the conjunction together in Utah Shakepearean Festival. With that, the girls will now be performing the scene from Shakespeare’s that includes Two Gentlemen in Verona and the monologues of The Merchant of Venice and King Henry VI Part 1. The performances that will be held in Southern Utah University will now be stage for about three times just front of these three different panels of these judges. As a result, this will be considered as its third year that learners from this Copper Canyon had already completed for its 33 year old competition. This Shakespeare Competition had already drawn about thousands of its middle and high school learners from the different educational learning institutes both public and private schools around the nation. Often times, this copper canyon girls are already competing upon performing arts schools that devotedly got an essential amount for its resources towards drama programs.

According to Ken Buxton who is the current academic director of this Copper Canyon that this girls might be stepping up of an area that they had not before and as a result they will be getting a solid feeling towards satisfaction. With that, Buxton is now preparing these girls towards their scenes that includes drawing its own experiences directing on the Shakespearean plays and even accompanies them on its four day trip. Upon this competition, performers are already been graded towards their presentation, character, voice, proper text usage, the knowledge of its Shakespeare and its plays. According to Buxton that they will ensure that this girls knows about this entire play so that they can able to portray their characters even better. This copper canyon learners that been selected in order to represent for the competition were basing on its background and interest.

Aside of that, the Copper Canyon is also taking part towards residential classroom educational program in Washington D.C. In this program, it allows crossing on boundaries that is just between on its clinical and even so called academic factors of its schools that is already been charge upon organizing the Copper Canyon’s Presidential Classroom trip. It entirely educates the students due to the mere fact that their trip will allow to provide a unique combination for academics, self awareness, and personality building. Students will be able to gain leadership skills, and meet students from other nations. With that learners will now be able to participate of role playing exercises, joining some briefing in the State Department, writing on some proposals, sitting on floor for Congress and even visiting the Pentagon and World Bank. The participants of this presidential classroom will be able to join the session and even classes. Aside of that, they will also be attending one hour group therapy session together its educators in order to provide guidance, protected or secure from few distractions, and assessing for treatment programs. The students that will be selected to participate this Presidential Classroom was entirely been based on the parents permission, approval from treatment team and therapist, solid graders, how long they will be in the Copper Canyon and to its ages. Those girls that been chosen in order to prepare for this six week trip before they will leave on are both in academic and clinical. So, in the end of long week program, the girls are given diploma and eventually become Presidential Classroom scholar.

Its been known that one of the common concern in the education field system in United States is the drop out rate of learners especially high schools individuals due to several reasons that includes lack of financial support or resources upon foregoing the educational program, lack of support from their families, got several obligations that been manage or involvement of some personal concerns. But the bottom line of this concern is to address on how to resolve and deal with it properly through gathering several solutions on it. One of the mere actions in order to deal it properly is to have a formal session in order to get through the ideas or opinions of others and be able to discuss it as a group. One of the aspects that can be done is the formal summit that will be happening this September. The upcoming educational summit will just be the first step in order to address or even provide resolution for several school communities who are experiencing drop outs and decrease of their enrollees or learners.

With that, the Indiana educators and their school leaders are now be able to meet this coming September in order to gain an effort for fighting what this state officials will be called or known as its high school dropout epidemic. Since, the Indiana Department of Education had already stated that there are only about three to four Indiana learners who will be entering this ninth grade that will be graduating within these four years. Tony Bennett stated that the summit will start this September 25 in Indianapolis will start on statewide movement in order to reach for about 90% gradation rate this coming 2012.

Those parents, community activist, businesses and some other people are invited to attend in this upcoming summit. After this upcoming meeting, representatives from the entire countries will be submitting these plans in regards to the dropout prevent projects in their respective educational school student community resources. Hopefully, the common concerns of high school drop outs will be gradually be resolve through the different solutions that will be tackling in the educational system summit.

Many parents differentiated only private schools as having the high tuition and other matriculation expenses. However, we can define a private school from a public school in its proper perspective.

For private schools

* Private schools really have much higher fees than public schools because these schools invested millions of dollars in constructing their buildings, laboratory facilities, salaries for quality and high-caliber professors with masters and doctorate degrees.

* Private schools are conducive for learning for students because they have well ventilated building structures. This means most of the classrooms in private schools have air condition units, so that the learning activities are really ideal.

* Private schools truly promote quality of education considering they hire top professionals in the industry. This means their graduates are really good professionals.

* Private schools have strict compliance in their student acceptance policies. If you are below average student you will not accepted to private schools. Many boarding schools are now very visible in the US because a decade ago many parents have realized the effective strategies it is implementing which really results to better and quality graduates.

For public schools

* Public schools are maintained by the government. This means the kind of education they can offer depend on the budget allocation of local school boards.

* Public schools are not really compatible with private schools when it comes to quality education. Although some public schools also produce good and brainy students.

* Public schools are sometimes not conducive to learning, since there is not much budget allocation from the government. This means there are times the budget for public schools is small.

* Public schools are sometimes having incompetent teachers because of low salaries they offer. However, in the US there are bigger public schools because the country is fully developed and education has much higher budget.

As of now, Swine flu is still one of the health concerns of most individuals who are in the United States. As much as possible, the governments especially the Department of Health are creating several precautions in order to avoid in transmitting and increasing the risks of infecting lots of people in the country in regards to this swine flu. With that, the Madison Elementary schools in Alabama will be closed for about two weeks because of this swine flu outbreak. The Schools Superintendent Dee Fowler stated that while the decision over the closure of several elementary schools in May 14 will be happening, some health officials would be revisiting the different educational learning institutes in the country especially the elementary school by the end of this week.

It seem that it quite less been severe than its been first thought by the public especially the health and government officials in the United States about this Swine flu outbreak that create chaos and concern to lots of parents and to both local or international students. As the school administrators are still implementing temporary closure of their educational learning institutes in order to avoid spreading and transmission of this virus, the different school administrators together with the health officials in the country continually doing some preventives measures about this health concern and reassuring both the parents and learners that education program schedules will back to its normal setting as soon as possible.

The classes will be hold beginning this Monday until the health officials, school administrators and local governments are already assured that it’s already safe for the learners to continue their class session. Especially, right now those about three of probable cases of swine flu were already detected in the portion of Madison Heritage Elementary School.
